There are a select few holiday destinations that you can guarantee will be fully booked with British tourists all seeking out the sunny weather and among these destinations there's Lanzarote. Lanzarote is one of the most popular of the Canary Islands in the Atlantic Ocean. Every year British tourists as well as tourists from other European countries flock to the island to enjoy the perfect beaches, plentiful restaurants and thriving tourist trade in general whether you are looking for a package holidays or even all inclusive holidays

.

The island is perfect for the beach resort holiday that many UK families of all ages search for. One interesting feature of Lanzarote's beaches that sets it apart from others is their black sand beaches. Whilst they are rare they come as a result of volcanic eruptions which leave the trademark black sands. This shouldn't worry you though as the majority of Lanzarote's many beaches are of the white or golden sand variety.

Many of these beaches are accredited with the blue flag making them perfectly safe for families to spend a few days lounging on or swimming in the ocean. They also have all the features you'd expect and need at the beach such as sun loungers, toilets and parasols.

There are many beaches so you shouldn't end up cramming on to a beach that is packed with other like-minded tourists; the southern coast is particularly popular due to the warmer climate even during winter months. The North Eastern coast can be popular with windsurfers and kite surfers due to the winds that are stronger there.

There are plenty of restaurants and hotels in the major resort areas but there are plenty of attractions away from the beach crowd if that is what you want if only for a day. The island's capital Arrecife has a much more modern and metropolitan feel to it, a lot of development is happening in the port based city and over half of the island's residents live in the area.

The nearby town of Teguise has a rich history from the age of sea faring pirates and used to be the island's capital city with two castles overlooking the two cities that harkens back to the time when the island was home to an impressive fleet defending the island from pirate attacks.

The island of Lanzarote has something for everyone and it's clear to see why the island is still so popular to his day so if you are looking for a place to go next year then holidays to Lanzarote could be right up your street.
